'SBS Special – Hakjeon and the Behind the Scenes Kim Min-ki', which will be broadcast on the 21st, is the story of Hakjeon, a leading figure in Korean culture and arts who created the musical 'Subway Line 1', and Kim Min-ki, the CEO of Hakjeon, who has strictly pursued a life behind the scenes and refrained from appearing on broadcasts. It is the first documentary to feature.
'Kim Min-ki's Before and After', which will be aired in three parts, will feature Kim Min-ki's long-time acquaintances, including Yoo Hong-jun (former Commissioner of the Cultural Heritage Administration), Song Chang-sik, Jo Young-nam, Kim Chang-nam (Nochatsa/Professor at Sungkonghoe University), Lim Jin-taek (theater director), Park Hak-gi, Jang Pil-soon, and Kang San. Artists produced by Hakjeon, including Do-hyun Yoon, Gyeong-gu Sol, Jeong-min Hwang, Hyun-seong Jang, Jeong-eun Lee, Ahn Nae-sang, Jong-hyuk Lee, Dae-myeong Kim, and Seon-bin Lee, as well as more than 100 celebrities who came together for Kim Min-gi, including Hakjeon staff members Kang Shin-il (General Affairs Manager) and Jeong Jae-il (Music Director). This is a one-of-a-kind project that includes interviews with people, and is receiving a lot of public attention.
On the 17th, ahead of the first broadcast, 'Hakjeon and the Behind the Scenes Kim Min-ki' released an interview video of Kim Dae-myeong and Lee Sun-bin, among actors from Hakjeon, through SBS NOW's official YouTube channel.
In the interview, Kim Dae-myung recalled his days as an aspiring actor and revealed what 'Hakjeon' meant at the time. He said, “'If I were to start my life as an actor, where would be the best place?' But in reality, there was no other answer, and I think it wasn't just me who wanted to start with an academic degree, but everyone who was preparing to become an actor at the same time felt the same way. “There were people who took the exam for several years,” he said, testifying to the status of the ‘Hakjeon’.
In addition, Kim Dae-myeong said, “The successful candidates were announced through the website, and when the day of the announcement came, I went to the PC room and waited. (My name on the list of successful candidates) appeared, but I couldn't even scream. It was like a dream,” expressing the joy of auditioning for 'Hakjeon'. vividly conveyed. He added, “The practice room was on the second floor, and if you open the window, sunlight comes in. When I saw that, I thought, 'Oh, I might be able to become an actor now.'” He was touched, expressing his sincerity about the 'educational experience' that made him where he is today. It aroused.
On the other hand, Sunbin Lee told the story of her debut in 'Hakjeon' at the young age of 17. Sunbin Lee said, “As I am from Cheonan, I took Line 1, transferred to Line 4, got off at Hyehwa Station, and went to Hakjeon. I was a freshman in high school at the time, and I felt like I had done something for the two and a half hours on the way to Hakjeon.” It revealed and caused laughter.
Sunbin Lee continued, “But I don't know why they chose me. I had bad vocalization and really bad pronunciation, so I had a lot of interviews. I also learned separately from teacher Mingi Kim. I learned everything from how to warm up to how to breathe and pronunciation when singing. “You must have been very frustrated because you didn’t know how to do anything,” he said, adding laughter as he confessed that the training period was not easy. However, he recalled, “Strangely enough, I don't remember being scolded by (Teacher Kim Min-ki). Instead of the teacher trampling me by revealing my shortcomings, I think I had a strong feeling that he was telling me, 'But it's okay. You can still do it.'” added.
Accordingly, expectations are rising for the upcoming broadcast of 'Academic History and the Behind the Scenes Kim Min-ki', which will portray everything about teacher Kim Min-ki through the mouths of numerous actors in addition to Kim Dae-myeong and Lee Sun-bin, as well as the reason why 'Hakjeon' is called an actor's academy.
'SBS Special's 'Academic and Backstory Kim Min-ki' will be aired for the first time on Sunday the 21st at 11:05 PM. It is scheduled to be broadcast for a total of three weeks from Sunday the 28th to Sunday May 5th.
