Director Yuri Lim's first directorial film 'Echo' was officially invited to the 'La Sineuf' section of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival.
'Echo' is the story of Ok-yeon, who runs away into the forbidden forest after being chased by drunken youths, meets Bang Bang, the older sister from the house next door, who married an old woman from the next village a few years ago, faces the truth of life as a woman, and chooses to move forward. . This is a work that director Yuri Lim, who is currently studying at the Department of Film at the Korea National University of Arts, was selected for the CJ Cultural Foundation's new short film director support project 'Story Up' in 2022 and received production support.
The 'La Cinef (formerly Cinefoundation)' section of the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was invited, is a competitive section that showcases short films made by film school students from around the world, and is a program that highlights the next generation of directors who will lead the film industry and their works.
Director Lim Yu-ri, who entered the Cannes Film Festival with her debut film, expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in the production of 'Echo' and said, “I always wanted to share with many people the story of a person who breaks the world he knows and boldly moves forward, and that feeling came to France. “I’m happy that it has reached that far,” he said, and expressed his strong ambition, “I will use this opportunity as a driving force to create many good works.”
Distributor Indie Story Co., Ltd. plans to work hard to actively promote 'Echo' overseas thanks to its invitation to the Cannes International Film Festival.
Meanwhile, the Cannes International Film Festival, celebrating its 77th anniversary this year, is scheduled to be held in Cannes, a city in southern France, from May 14th to 25th.
