Director Park Chan-wook's masterpiece 'Oldboy' is being reborn as a TV series in the United States.

American entertainment media Variety reported on the 17th (local time) that “Lionsgate Television is working with director Park Chan-wook to produce an English version of the 'Oldboy' TV series.”

Director Park Chan-wook said, “I share my creative vision of bringing 'Oldboy' to the world of television with Lionsgate Television. I look forward to working with a studio that stands for bold, original, and risk-taking storytelling. “He expressed his feelings.

Scott Herbst, Lionsgate Television's Vice President and Head of Script Development, responded, “We are thrilled to be working with Director Park, one of the most pioneering storytellers of our generation, to bring his masterpiece to television.”

Director Park Chan-wook also participates in production. We plan to produce a new version with our producing partner Syd Lim.

'Old Boy', produced in 2003, received global attention by winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes International Film Festival. This work is still considered director Park Chan-wook's best work.

Even in Hollywood, many film directors have been talking about it, citing it as the best Korean film. In 2014, Spike Lee remade it into a movie of the same name.
